State Senator Bryant Richardson Filed to Run for Governor
State Senator Bryant Richardson (R-Seaford) filed to run for governor on Monday, June 1.
"I am taking this step because I believe the governor has overstepped his authority, has failed to address other pressing needs in the state and because I believe four more years under his leadership will not bring about the improvements we need in public safety, business growth, education and mostly, in the protection of life and liberty," Richardson said.
"You can't eliminate all risks in life, but you can take reasonable actions to protect yourself. Government should inform us, even warn us, but not try to control our every move," Richardson said.
"I want Delaware to be first again, first in career opportunities, in academic achievement, and in preserving our God-given rights of life and liberty."
Richardson and his wife, Carol, are owners of Morning Star Publications, Inc., publishers of the Seaford Star and Laurel Star community newspapers, the Morning Star Business Report, the Salisbury Star, and a number of specialty publications. Morning Star Publications, Inc., was started in April 1996.
Bryant and Carol attend Crossroad Community Church.
They have three children, Leanne, Paul and Daniel, two are graduates of the University of Delaware and one is a graduate of Liberty University and Regent University. Bryant and Carol have five grandchildren, Hannah, Hughie, Henry, Luke and Annie. They also are long time supporters of a child in Ethiopia and of the Delmarva Teen Challenge.
